Helpful for directional control and tight turns during fast work.  Also safer for young horses, especically when introducing them to road work, as the bit will not pull through the mouth in a panic situation.  Also beneficial for children or novice riders.

Neue Schule bits work by pressing on the tongue in order to communicate, rather than pressing on the roof of the mouth, which although is an area that can be easily damaged, actually has much fewer nerves and so feels less than the tongue.The tranz mouthpiece is designed so that the lozenge and loops predminantly press down on the centre of the tongue. The more pressure sensitive side areas of the tongue are not under as much contact and so are relieved, making this a effective, but gentle bit.
